You will be aware of certain telltale signs that it’s time to get emergency medical care. If you exhibit pain in your chest with a tingling sensation in your arm, then the alarm bells ring for a heart attack. Shortness of breath or swelling in your face indicates a possible allergic reaction. The point being that some signs are obvious, and you know to get emergency help ASAP.

On the other side of things, you may encounter some lesser-known signs or symptoms that demand the same emergency attention, only you’re not aware of them. Too many people don’t get the immediate medical care they need because they don’t know what certain symptoms could mean. Speaking of which, today’s blog post will go through some of the most common and unknown signs that you need emergency care.

Sudden Pain in The Lower Back Area

There’s nothing strange or uncommon about lower back pain. Millions of people deal with it every day – and this figure is always rising due to how many of us sit at desks for hours a day. Persistent back pain is normally a result of poor posture while sitting, and it’s not a serious concern. You can fix it by maintaining a good posture, stretching the muscles, and doing some strengthening exercises.

Moreover, back pain that comes about because of an obvious injury isn’t something that necessarily demands emergency care either. You know what caused it, and it’s more of an external issue that will be helped with rest and recovery.

The key thing to look for is sudden pain in the lower back area, particularly close to the sides of your body. If you haven’t injured yourself or experienced this sharp, achy pain before, then it could indicate a kidney infection. You’ll need to get emergency care, especially if the pain comes about suddenly and feels intense.

A Chipped or Cracked Tooth

You may not see a chipped or cracked tooth as a serious medical issue, but it’s something that demands immediate attention. It’s on the list of dental emergencies at Arlington Advanced Dental Care, which is already a sign that you should take it more seriously than you might. People ignore chipped teeth because they’re not always painful, and you’re not completely bothered about how they look.

However, a chipped or cracked tooth could be a genuine problem because it can expose the inner part of your tooth to dangerous bacteria in your mouth. This is an easy way to suffer from a severe tooth infection – which could lead to an abscess and result in your tooth needing to be removed.

Something so minor and innocuous can have a devastatingly bad effect on your health, so it makes sense to book an emergency dental appointment ASAP. At worst, your dentist might tell you there’s no problem, costing you some time and money.  If there is a concern, then they can fix the chipped tooth before an infection starts.

Unexplained Jaw Pain

Staying with the oral health topic for a moment, unexplained jaw pain could be a sign of something very dangerous. Again, the keyword in that sentence is unexplained. Jaw pain is highly common and can happen because your neck muscles are tight or you’ve been chewing for too long. That’s not a cause for concern and won’t demand an emergency appointment.

The problem is when jaw pain comes along without any explanation and is accompanied by other symptoms like fatigue and shortness of breath. Believe it or not, but this can be an early heart attack symptom. It’s something most people are unaware of, so if you experience persistent jaw pain with no other explanation (plus the additional symptoms), then it makes sense to visit the ER just in case.

Bruises That Appear Without Injury

Are you noticing bruises on your body that seem to appear without any reason? You’ve not banged into anything, you didn’t hurt yourself during a physical activity; they just keep appearing with no rhyme or reason.

This problem gets even more worrying if you don’t have anemia or another underlying health condition that causes frequent bruising. Unexplained bruises that appear out of nowhere may be a sign of a blood clotting problem. These are extremely serious and must be treated before a big blood clot can form and cause severe health problems.

Knowledge will always help you avoid health catastrophes, so keep an eye out for these lesser-known signs/symptoms that may indicate you need emergency care. Taking action as soon as possible will help you solve issues before they develop into serious concerns.
