Funding Will Support Caregiver Support Services’ Caregiver Wellness Summit

NEW YORK (May 31, 2018)— The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) has awarded grant funding to Caregiver Support Services, in Omaha, NE, to help fund its Caregiver Wellness Summit for individuals impacted by Alzheimer’s disease.

“AFA strongly believes in helping grassroots and government organizations provide the hands-on programs and services that help individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related illnesses continue to live meaningful lives,” said Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr., AFA’s president and chief executive officer.  “We are proud to help this outstanding organization further its efforts in serving the people of Omaha, and provide much needed services in the community.”

Dr. Eboni Green, President and CEO of Caregiver Support Services, said, “we are excited that AFA has generously provided CSS with funding for this much needed event to support  caregivers. We hope to engage in meaningful dialogue about how caregivers can be better supported in the workplace so that they remain employed.”

Caregiver Support Services is a non-for-profit organization created to support family and professional caregivers through direct support services. They provide training, education and self-advocacy.  They offer a wealth of information and tips and strategies through conferences and workshops, literature, webinars, and more.  Their goal is to help caregivers provide the best quality of care for their loved ones.

The $5,000 grant will help support the There’s Honor in Asking for Help Caregiver Wellness Summit, which is a two-day getaway, taking place on Thursday November 15th and  Friday November 16th.  The There is Honor in Asking for Help® campaign’s mission is to advocate and support frontline caregivers who are caring for a loved one and/or client to remain employed and productive in the workplace. Their specific focus is on frontline caregivers who are doing double duty (i.e., working in the healthcare field as a nursing assistant, home care aide, personal assistants, and volunteers and who also care for a family member).  They aim to register 50 caregivers and have them take the tools with them to be more effective caregivers.  The funds would cover the cost of the two-day summit, meals, and scholarships for overnight stays at the Summit. Caregiver Support Services’ “There Honor in Asking for Help ®” Wellness Summit web page is also supported by the grant.

AFA is able to provide vital services, like this grant, as a result of the generosity of individual contributions, sponsorships and fundraising activities.
